Key Research & Development Accomplishments

Department

· Set up the imaging centre, teleradiology & image archiving facility and networked the Academic Department of Clinical Radiology

· Demonstrated cost savings to the tune of £2.6 billion to the Department of Health

· Established the GP Link::This is being considered for a National Implementation
· Developed the Emergency Medical Facility:: Has been published in The Best Practice guidelines for SMEs & PLCs publication of the Government's e-Commerce guidelines. Finalist for a European Award.

· Designed and developed a centre of rotation test object for a computed tomography scanner

· Developed a facility using an industrial scanning acoustic microscope for the study of breast cancer

· Developed high frequency (1.1 MHz) amplifiers and a treatment system for ultrasound hyperthermia for the study of breast cancer

· Developed multiple junction thermocouples for measuring breast tumour temperatures during hyperthermia
